Golf Shoes: Determining the Quality of Your Game

Not only can we give you great golf ball advice, but we can help you with your golf shoes also!  While many newcomers to the sport dismiss the importance of wearing specially designed golf shoes, experts will stand by the belief that the quality of your shoes can greatly determine the quality of your game.

In other words, golf shoes are a fundamental part of any golfer’s supplies and outfit. While many people try to make do with wearing ordinary sports shoes while playing golf, they do so without realizing that they are straining their ability to perform on the golf greens. Normal sports shoes increase effort required to play the game and reduce your grip on the turf.

Golf shoes on the other hand give you a better grip and ensure that your feet don’t slide while you swing the club.
Many people argue that it is not necessary to procure special shoes for the game as they can be somewhat expensive.

While it is true that ordinary shoes can suffice, one cannot deny that golf shoes play a big role in taking your game from ‘mediocre’ to ‘spectacular’ as they greatly augment your ease on the course.
In the original patterns, most golf shoes were fitted with small spikes of metal on the soles.

The purpose of these spikes, observably, was to be able to provide the wearer with a firm grasp by clasping onto the covering of the golf greens. Overtime, the model of golf shoes has evolved. Instead of metal spikes, companies are now manufacturing shoes which have tiny spikes made out of a flexible but strong rubber.

These shoes continue to provide the advantage of a strong grip without causing severe damage to the façade of the golf course.
Golf shoes are notably heavier than normal shoes and even other categories of sports shoes. They are built so in order to provide a definite amount of steadiness to the player.

The extra weight ensures that the person does not make any unprecedented movement and does not shift position while swinging the golf club. The heavier shoes allow people to feel more comfortable by giving a sense of being ‘fixed’ on the spot.
Also, golf shoes are much more unyielding and stiffer than ordinary shoes.

This is an essential feature of the footwear required for playing golf. While swinging the club, the weight of the body shifts dramatically and one can lose balance. A rigid shoe ensures that the ankle does not bend or twist out of place and the body remains firm and constant, allowing one to play without inhibition.
